Regular guests to Budmarsh will know Jacob Shabalala – our excellent guest relations manager and keeper of the cellar.  Jacob is a rare human being who is often most intuitive about the needs of guests.  After a course on wine with the Cape Wine Academy, Jacob’s knowledge and interest in wine developed into a passion.

Recently he and owner Ken Fargher visited a few great wine estates in the fairest of Capes.  Two estates Hartenberg and Eagles Nest both went out of their way to give Jacob  “the grand tour” of their fine cellars.  They are two great estates and the wine from them is superlative so Ken and Jacob felt particularly indulged.

The trip ended with a visit to the renowned Round House restaurant in Camps Bay. This restaurant is a must for all discerning foodies who understand and appreciate fine food. The evening is a long languid affair of exquisite food.  The Chef is almost as good as the executive chef at Budmarsh!  The experience at the Round House was a superb ending to a fine few days in the glorious Cape and Jacob has even more knowledge to offer the guests who escape the city for a food experience at Budmarsh.
